This Weekend

...in the life of the McCartney's

This weekend was a wonderful time of relaxation for us. Two specific events that occurred were the viewing of the movie Curious George, and a quick trip to Wye Mountain.

Curious George
Our church's Adoption Fund ministry held an outdoor movie night, featuring Curious George, on the football field of Little Rock Christian Academy - the local school where Heidi taught elementary music before Ashton was born. All proceeds from the event - admission, concessions an other donations - went toward the benefit of the adoption fund, to financially help support families desiring to adopt. Of course, for the past 2 years we've considered adoption for some time in our family's future (not sure when, but believe God may be stirring something in us).

Anyways, a couple hundred people came out to this first-time event...and what an event it was! Over $3,500 was raised, and we found out this amount is going to be matched by an anonymous donor.

We had such a great time fellowshiping with other families and just spending time with each other as a family, doing something out of the regular routine. Curious George handed us a lot of laughs throughout the night as well.

Being the proud parents that we are, here are some pictures of our little boy, Ashton, at the event.

Wye Mountain
We had heard about a place just 25 minutes northwest of Little Rock called Wye Mountain. It is here the annual Daffodil Festival is held. A little 50-member United Methodist church hosts this festival on their grounds, and any purchases of daffodils and/or concessions go to support this tiny church's pastor's salary - what a great idea!!

So Heidi, Ashton, my parents & sister and I drove up to "the Wye" to check this out. The scenery during the drive was beautiful. Arkansas' natural lands really are the country's best kept secret! Even though we went a week after the festival was over, and even though most of the daffodils were wilted, there were still several acres covered with blossomed daffodils worth getting pictures of. We placed Ashton down in the thick of them and captured some snapshot pictures of him playing with them. Of course, as any baby at his age would, he tried putting them in his mouth!

Here are a few of the pictures with Ashton playing in the daffodils and a couple other random pictures. Enjoy!
